What is speech therapy?
Speech- and language therapy provides assessment, treatment and support for individuals – from infants to the elderly – who have difficulties with communication or swallowing disorders.
Speech therapists work closely with parents, families and caregivers and are part of a multidisciplinary team with close links with teachers, doctors, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and other health professionals.
Speech therapists provide a wide range of services for various difficulties with many causes, including developmental delays, various syndromes, learning difficulties, strokes and brain injuries.
